HIKOT: ParSU – UP Diliman AIT Sustainable Coastal Tourism Development Workshop
UP AIT, in partnership with the Partido State University (ParSU), successfully conducted “HIKOT: Sustainable Coastal Tourism Development Workshop” from June 3-4, 2026 at the Research Conference Room, ParSU Goa Campus. President Arnel B. Zarcedo, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Knowledge Management Raul G. Bradecina, deans and faculty members from different colleges across the 7 campuses and San Jose Partido Tourism Office actively participated in the 2-day workshop.
The UP AIT and ParSU team met with Mayor Jerold Peña of San Jose Partido regarding this extension collaboration and tourism vision for the Municipality of San Jose. Mayor Jerold Peña highlighted the municipalities’ popular tourism activities and looks forward to this coastal tourism development project.
The conduct of this workshop was supported by the UP Diliman Extension Grant. The project aims to develop an action research framework for sustainable coastal tourism development that can be applied across different coastal communities. It addresses the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Life Below Water). ParSU and UP AIT looks forward to future activities to uplift the lives of fisherfolk and coastal communities in the Partido district in Camarines Sur.
