AIT Holds Workplace Wellness and Mindfulness Forum
The UP Asian Institute of Tourism (AIT) successfully hosted the AIT Workplace Wellness and Mindfulness Forum on February 26, 2026, bringing together faculty, REPS, administrative staff, and custodial workers in an initiative aimed at advancing holistic wellbeing within the AIT community.
The three-part forum featured speakers from UP units. Dr. Myrissa L. Slip, former Director of the UP Health Service, opened the forum with a compelling message that wellness is not self-indulgence — it is a professional responsibility, underscoring why wellness matters not only to individual employees but to the organization as a whole. Her talk covered preventive care, nutrition, and lifestyle practices that support overall wellbeing.
Ms. Leizel Lectura and representatives from the UP Human Resource Development and Benefits Division followed with an in-depth presentation on transformative benefits, claims, and policies, highlighting the UP HRDO’s commitment to responsive and excellent human resource management. The session also featured insights on the needs of retirees and vulnerable sectors within the university community.
The forum concluded with the UP Diliman Office of Counseling and Guidance, which facilitated a session on mental health, stress management, mindfulness, and emotional resilience — creating a safe and open space for dialogue on mental health challenges in the workplace.
In her remarks, AIT GAD Focal Person Ms. Sarah Briones highlighted the direct connection between wellbeing and productivity, stressing the critical role every employee plays in driving organizational excellence. AIT Dean Giovanni Legaspi likewise emphasized the importance of holistic wellness in cultivating a nurturing workplace culture at AIT.
