UP-AIT partners with NCIP for ethical Indigenous tourism development
The UP-AIT recently conducted a courtesy visit to the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Central Office to explore collaborative opportunities in Indigenous tourism partnerships. This meeting marks a significant step toward developing ethical and culturally sensitive approaches to tourism research and education in the Philippines.
During the visit, UP-AIT representatives met with key NCIP officials including Director IV Reynaldo A. Dingal of the Office on Socio-Economic Services and Special Concerns, Division Chief Glenda A. Pua of the Socio-Economic Development Division, Education and Culture Division Chief Neil Jasper Coroza, and DMO-I Shanna D. Villado. The discussions centered on creating meaningful partnerships that prioritize Indigenous communities and cultural preservation.
The proposed collaboration encompasses several key areas: community-led tourism development initiatives, highlighting of Indigenous products in tourism education curricula, capacity building activities for Indigenous communities, documentation and preservation efforts for cultural heritage, multi-sectoral knowledge sharing forums, and strategic program partnerships with other government agencies.
