Professorial Lecture Series
The UP Asian Institute of Tourism once again organized the Professorial Lecture Series on May 6, 2024. This time, the lecture featured the paper of Asst. Prof. Rielle Christian Alcantara-Castro, a grantee of the Aspiras Professorial Chair this AY 2023-2024, with the title “Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Tourism Livelihoods in Island Destinations: The Case of Cagbalete Island, Quezon, Philippines.”
The hybrid lecture was attended by students, faculty members from various colleges and universities, and officers from several local government units. Asst. Prof. Alcantara-Castro gave a detailed overview of her paper where she also discussed her experience conducting the research during the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak. After the lecture, she addressed the questions from the audience both on-site and on-line, about her research on Cagbalete Island in Quezon Province.
The UPAIT will continue to organize events that will encourage students to conduct research and increase their appreciation for tourism.
