UPAIT Staff Capacity-Building & Sustainability Planning Training Workshop
The Capacity-Building and Sustainability Planning Training Workshop for UPAIT REPS and Staff was held on June 22-24, 2023. This training will raise awareness about sustainability in the workplace and explore solutions for promoting and incorporating sustainability into AIT work and processes. This activity also aims to instill environmentally conscious practices in AIT personnel and to explore sustainable ways to solve the sustainability concerns related with office operations.
On the first day, an overview of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, UNTWO’s Tourism for SDGs, and Sustainability in the Workplace were discussed by Asst. Prof. Maria Carmela Ibanez UPAIT REPS and staff were informed of the different sustainability practices that they can apply not only in the workplace but also in their homes.
After the discussion on sustainability, Ms. Maria Lourdes Bendebel led the Road to Gold consultation. UPAIT REPS and staff conveyed their thoughts on their current working situation in relation to the goals set by the Institute. They additionally suggested work techniques that would benefit not only themselves but also the Institute.
On the second day, Mr. Jodel Joseph Abas presented the proposed AIT Sustainability Programs for AIT Building and AIT Research and Extension programs. Prof. Ibanez asked the REPS and staff how they may integrate sustainability principles in their daily life to recap the discussion on sustainability during the first day of the workshop.
On the last day, the AIT Sustainability Plan was written. Overall, the staff workshop provided them with newfound confidence and skills to implement in their work after the informative discussions and activities.
