Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill
One with the UP Community, the UPAIT took part in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Disaster Drill (NSED) on June 8, 2023. The drill was held to help secure the safety of the university’s students, faculty, researchers, staff, and other stakeholders in the event of an earthquake.
As the siren rang, the participants practiced the “duck, cover, and hold” technique. After the siren, the participants evacuated to the front of the UPAIT building, which served as the evacuation area. There was also a simulation of one of the participants being injured and how he was treated. After all of the participants were evacuated in front of the UPAIT building, the building administrator and his team inspected the premises to check the damages caused by the earthquake. This activity is a great chance to assess and strengthen the institute’s emergency preparedness plan.
UPAIT pledges to participate in similar drills to safeguard the safety of its stakeholders in the case of disasters such as earthquakes.
