Extension Services
The Institute continuously engages in research-based extension activities and consultancy projects for various partners from both the public and private sectors of tourism. AIT draws on the expertise of the Faculty, often complemented by specialists from the various departments and research centers of UP Dilman, to provide technical assistance and applied research services in different aspects of sustainable tourism development.
AIT’s extension and outreach activities are managed by our Division of Tourism Research and Extension Services (DTRES). Since its establishment in the late 1970s, DTRES has been at the forefront of tourism research and extension work in the Philippines. Today, its outreach and extension activities involve projects related to: tourism policy and program planning; tourism product development; destination marketing and promotions; capacity building and human resource development; standards and training regulations; and professional qualifications for the travel and tourism industry among others.
AIT has also been an active partner of the Philippine tourism industry, and especially the Department of Tourism on various training programs to develop the skills, knowledge, and management competencies within the Philippine tourism industry. Along this line, DTRES offers customized and turn-key training modules for local government units, national agencies, tourism and hospitality educators, and enterprises
