Basics of Research Ethics and Graduate Program Open House
Earlier today, the UP Asian Institute of Tourism (UP AIT), in collaboration with the UP Diliman Research Ethics Board (UPD REB), hosted a lecture on the Basics of Research Ethics.
Ms. Gretchen Velarde, UPD REB Coordinator, delivered a comprehensive discussion on the evolution of research ethics guidelines, key elements of research ethics, ethical standards for authorship and publication, an overview of the UPD REB and its review process, as well as the application procedures for ethical review of research protocols and proposals.
Following the lecture, Dr. Maria Corazon De Ungria addressed the participants’ queries during the open forum.
In the afternoon, UP AIT held its Graduate Diploma and Master of Science in Tourism Development and Management Open House. The UP AIT Graduate Program presented an overview of the institute’s graduate offerings.
This was followed by a panel discussion featuring former and current graduate students — Ms. Maria Eslao-Pamo, Ms. Marjorie June Antonio, and Mr. Minoru Fujihara — who shared their experiences in graduate school and offered practical advice to help future graduate students navigate their academic journey.
The events were attended by faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, employees from various local government units, and representatives from the private sector.
