UPD inks partnership with MSU Tawi Tawi
UP Diliman (UPD) through the Asian Institute of Tourism (AIT) entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Mindanao State University Tawi Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) on July 18, 2024 at the MAAS Kamlon in MSU-TCTO Campus.
Signed by UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II and MSU Tawi Tawi Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, the MOU aims to formalize the partnership between the two institutions in promoting academic cooperation and interface of marine studies and tourism development in Tawi Tawi. Other areas for collaboration include capability training programs for MSU faculty, research staff, and municipal tourism officers, curriculum development, faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative research projects, lectures, symposia, among others.
Through the MOU, UPD and AIT will continue its initiatives in support of education, research and extension opportunities with MSU-TCTO, and in monitoring the sustainability of tourism development in the province.
On the same day, Chancellor Vistan together with the AIT Team led by AIT Graduate Program Coordinator Professor Edieser Dela Santa met the Tawi Tawi Provincial Governor Yshmael I. Sali. Highlights of the meeting include discussions on the University’s assistance in the preparation of a tourism master development plan for the province.
