AIT Distinguished Alumni

Below are the following distinguished alumni of the Asian Institute of Tourism :

 

1.  Marie Antonette Madrinan-Bolo

She was an Official Representative in the Philippine Tourism Congress in 2009.

Became chairman, Marketing and Promotions Committee, Bohol Provincial  Tourism Council 2009 – present

And later on became the President of the Bohol Federation of Travel and Tour Operators also known as (BOFETTO) from 2004 to the present.

Pleasurable and enjoyable stay in Bohol has become possible through the advocacies of Nonette that includes responsible sustainable eco- friendly tourism

2.  Randy Benedicto A. Alampay

Randy was the First Filipino to earn a Ph.D. in Tourism, and was also the  first grantee of the East-West Center to specialize in Tourism at the University of Hawaii.

He is currently an adjunct faculty at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).

He is also currently the national manager for Local Governance Support Programme for Local Economic Development (LGSP-LED), a Canadian government-funded program to support agri-industry and tourism development in LGU Alliances.

A faculty member of UPAIT from 1993-2009. Pioneered one-year undergraduate research/thesis series in 2002. Introduced various innovations to the teaching of Tourism 198 - Strategic Management including Web 2.0 technologies, individual oral exams, and contemporary approaches such as Blue Ocean Strategy

3.  Marisa Y. Lerias

Dunteet has been a loyal employee of British Airways when she started in the Airline sector. Her superb marketing skills in her initial years with the company caught the eyes of her superiors right away. And her hard work and perseverance for many years carried her to opportunities beyond her expectations.  She is now presently part-owner and General Manager of British Airways GSA in the Philippines.

4.  Teri Pacanza-Flores

Professional achievement includes pioneering multi-platform corporate partnership programs for SM Supermalls and Robinsons Malls. She established corporate partnership programs for consumer products using audio and video media for Star Recording Inc., spearheading the successful grand launching and  5th Anniversary celebration of Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila.

She is an active member of the UP-AIT First Friday Club, and a die- hard Travel Society officer in her college days.

5.  Congressman Carlo V. Lopez

He was an active and idealist student council officer during college.

He was the apple of the eye of a lot of coeds back then.

Carlo has played a low key role in the UP-AIT Alumni Association all these years but has been one of the biggest supporters in all of the association’s events. He is an active member of the UP-AIT First Friday Club. Since graduating from college, he continues to dream for a better AIT.

He won as City Councilor of Manila in his first salvo in politics in 2006 despite all odds. He won again, as Congressman, with limited resources in the last elections.

His current position in the House of Representatives, and being a member of Committee on Tourism will surely be a starting point in realizing this dream.

Today, he is also known as the “Kuya ng Tondo.”

6.  Joanne Golong-Gomez

Joanne definitely is the perfect combination of beauty and brains. Aside from being a commercial model, she has won in beauty competitions left and right. And to complement this accomplishment, she has been a consistent Deans Lister when she took her Masters in Business Administration at the Ateneo de Manila Business School.

She is also considered as one of the pioneers of the First Friday Club.

She started her career with The Century International Hotel in 1995 as an Account Manager. She later moved to Somerset Millennium Executive Residences in 2000 as its Marketing Manager.

And today, she is the Director of Sales and Marketing of the Ascott Group Philippine Cluster, namely, Ascott Makati, Somerset Millennium, Somerset Olympia and Somerset Salcedo

7.  Caesar I. Yuipco

In college, he co-founded the most prestigious student organization of AIT, the UP STAG (Society for Tourism Advancement and Growth) in 1984.

He also became the third President of the UP-AIT Alumni Association in 1998.

Caesar has been a strategic professional with more than 20 years of solid experience in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry.

He started his rise in the industry starting from being a Market Specialist  during the VISIT ASEAN YEAR in 1992.

He has been the Association Manager of the PTAA (Philippine Travel Agencies Association) in 1993.

He migrated to Palawan to become the Director of the Puerto Princesa Tourism Council and later became the Secretary-General of the Palawan Tourism Council.

He was also elected president of AROMA also known as the Association of Restaurant Owners & Managers of Palawan 2002.

He has been a consultant to numerous tourism entities like the City of Puerto Princessa, Department of Tourism, Hotel Fleuris in Palawan.

8.  Joy Anne C. Denoga

Joy was the president of the UP Travel Society in 1994.

She is considered as one of the pioneers of the First Friday Club that met monthly throughout the 1990’s.

She served 2 terms in the UP-AIT Alumni Association Board of Trustees.  She also authored the Association’s Tagline, “Proud to be AIT”

She became Sales Account Manager for Pryce Plaza Hotel from 1993-1996.

Became El Nido’s Sales and Marketing Manager from 2002-2004.

9.  Michael Jaey C. Albana

Mike rose from the ranks of the Hospitality Industry, starting as an Account Executive of the Insular Century Hotel Davao and Pearl Farm Beach Resort 1996.

He then became the Sales Account Manager of Holiday Inn Manila in 1997, Assistant Director of Sales – Westin Philippine Plaza 1999, Director of Sales and Marketing – Traders Hotel Manila 2006, and became Vice President of the Hotels, Resorts, and Hotel and Restaurant Association of Cebu.

He was also a Trustee and Executive Vice President in the Tourism Congress 2009.

Despite of the global economic downturn, Mike stirred Shangri-la’s Mactan to become a favorite destination for holidaymakers and business alike.

He is also an original member of the UP-AIT First Friday Club.

10.  Jovel M. Cipriano

Jovel is a triple degree holder at the University of the Philippines (Computer Science, Mathematics, and Tourism).

He also played an active role in the UP STAG and UP TRAVEL SOCIETY during his college days.

He gave up his high paying job at IBM to put up PINOYDELIKASI.COM  which was considered a folly back then. Friends and colleagues used to laugh at him selling danggit and dilis online. But from a P10,000.00 capital, he turned it into a multi-million peso IT Marketing Empire.

He has won the following international awards:

1.   2006 Best Practices in E Commerce for small and medium enterprises.

2.   APEC Digital Opportunity Center Awards Awards, Best in E-Commerce at the World Summit Awards in Dubai 2003and One of the Six Best Distribution Models by the World Trade Organization.

4.   Nominee, Ten Outstanding Young Men, Jaycees in 2006.
